Many couples may become frustrated when trying for a baby; however, conception is a complex process and each month there is a 20-25% chance of pregnancy. Whilst some couples conceive in their first month of trying, for others it may take several months.
Approximately 80% of couples who have regular sexual intercourse (every 2-3 days) and who do not use contraception will achieve a pregnancy within a year. There are however, a number of reasons why for some couples (approximately 1 in 7) conception may not happen naturally.
It is possible to arrange a joint fertility assessment; incorporating the testing described in the male and female information pages.
